Welcome from the nurse!

8/12/24

Hello Parents, Guardians, and Families of Taos Charter School,

My name is Betsy, and I am going to fulfill Taos Charter School’s nursing duties this school year. I have over 12 years of nursing experience, in the ER, hospice, homecare, and this is my 3rd year in the school nurse role.

While I will not be on campus (periodically) I will be available for health related questions and am responsible for submitting the state of New Mexico health department’s mandates, such as immunization information, injury and acute illness visits to the office and any IEP/IHP requiring medical attention, ect.

Early this fall we will test hearing with the Kindergarten-3rd grade, and any suspect students, SpEd and IEP’s needing it for diagnostic purposes. I will also be following the Lion’s Club Kidsight Program and following through on their awesome Spare Pair program, that provides a free pair of glasses if referred, to remain at school incase their other pair gets lost.

I will be sending out periodic reminders throughout the school year about various health goals and any new health information from the New Mexico PED/DOH and following up with any issues, concerns (attendance, chronic illness, ect).

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions, nice to “meet” you all, and I hope this school year is a healthy and safe one!

Sincerely,

Nurse Betsy, RN BSN
