Top 5 Things I Learned at My First Friends of Taos Charter Meeting

Did you know how important The Friends is to our beloved school? Honestly, I had no idea. Here is what I learned at my first meeting...

1. The Friends wrote the charter for TCS back in the mid-90's, negotiated the land, designed the buildings, and coordinated the construction of the campus as we know it today.

2. It is a parent-driven, 501c3 nonprofit volunteer organization - complete with a board of directors.

3. Their mission is to advocate for the care and protection as well as the academic excellence of our kids.

4. The Friends raise money to fund so many aspects of TCS... facility improvement, after school programs, teacher bonuses, plus professional development.

5. But their biggest job is to promote a loving community within the parents, students and faculty. And for that we need YOU!

At our last meeting we approved scholarships for several after school programs, so open up those emails and check your child's folder to learn how to apply!

Principal Jones also shared some exciting updates on new playground equipment and how we can help see that to fruition. The kids will love it!

We're fine-tuning our fundraisers for the year and will send out details ASAP on how you can help.

Looking forward to a successful year!

Sincerely,

The Friends of Taos Charter School

P.S. It was so great to see everyone at back to school night! We'll have those new TCS shirts and hats available for purchase soon.
