Greta Brown has been part of the TCS community for many years. In 2011 she became a TCS parent, and she joined the staff in 2015 as a Special Education Assistant. Now she is adding the role of Family Support Coordinator.
She is the mother of three and has lived in Taos for 25 years. You may know her from one of the many other hats she has worn. She worked in the mental health field at Casa de Corazon, Taos Family Resource Center, and Nonviolence Works. Her specialties are individual and group counseling, play therapy, parenting groups, and case management. She also worked at Noah’s Ark Preschool for ten years, owning and directing it for seven. In the afternoons she can be found at the pool teaching the pre-competitive members of the swim club and the Special Olympic swim team.
Greta is very excited to combine her passion for education and mental health in her role at Taos Charter School. Greta’s position is funded through a grant from New Mexico Public Education Department and allows her to support students and their families in the areas of attendance, behavior and emotions, and grades. Greta believes in empowering children and parents to clarify and reach their personal goals as students, families, and community members.
