Kinder News #26

Hello Families,

We had a very nice week back at school. We started talking about our neighborhoods this week and focused on the people we might see if we took a walk around the places where we live.

Report cards will be sent home today. If I feel the need to set-up a conference I’ll get in touch with you. If you would like to meet I’ll be available Friday, April 1st. Please remember there is no school for students that day.

I’m sending home a Scholastic Book Club order form today. Please have those turned in by April 1st if you would like to order books.

This week in math we discussed attributes such as color, shape, and size. I attached pictures of the students creating attribute collages such as a “red and blue” collage, or a “triangle” collage. We also worked with money this week. We discussed the difference between quantities of coins and value of coins. So far students have been introduced to pennies, nickels, and dimes. Please review the value of each coin with your child. We played “bank” this week and practiced making even trades with coins. I’m sending home a homework activity that has to do with collecting and trading coins.

Enjoy the long weekend.
