Today in class we finished Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. It is a novel about a pig named Wilbur and his friendship with a barn spider named Charlotte. The story evokes vivid images and is rich in vocabulary. We have all enjoyed this story immensely. Many of us (especially me) cried at the death of Charlotte and at the conclusion of the book. How wonderful it is to be moved by literature!
Students have been given the assignment to make a diorama (or some 3 dimensional project) depicting their favorite part of the story. The project will be due on Thursday, September 24th. Students will have limited literacy homework for the week of September 21st. I am giving it out today so the students will have some extra time to complete.
The title of the book, the author, and the student’s name should be included somewhere on the project. Students can provide a brief description of the scene they chose for extra credit.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions.
