Week of December 5, 2011

Thanks for our recent Reading Ranger, Maria Meadowcroft.  If you would like to read to the class this week on Tuesday at 12:05, please let me know.

Don't forget our upcoming field trip to the Taos Public Library (and Twirl) on Wednesday, December 21st.  Students need to have a library card in their name and without fines on it in order to be able to check out two books.  I encourage everyone to prepare for this soon.  Parents, I would love a few chaperones to help out that day.  We will be starting at Michael's Kitchen before our Library tour, followed by caroling at the Plaza and ornament-making at Twirl.  It should be a great way to kick off the winter vacation.

Scholastic Book orders are due Wednesday.  To order online, go to the school website and then to Third Grade Class.  From here you can find the post that gives our class code for the Scholastic Book Clubs site.  The post is password protected and your child knows the password.  If you are having trouble, send me an email or call me at school and I will help you.

We are making good progress with our cursive handwriting this year.  This week we will learn about the 13 Colonies, to be enhanced by some colonial crafts in the classroom.  If you are crafty and would like to come in and help us out, just let me know.
