Parent Letter and Spelling Words for 10/24

October 21, 2011

Dear Parents,

First off I would like to thank all the parents who are participating in the Dia de Los Muertos unit. You are still welcome to bring in pictures of loved ones who have passed. I will make a copy to post on our altar and send the original home with your child.  The children seem to be learning a lot and enjoy making the “ofrendas.”

Next week in class we will be working on the -ar sound and compound words. We are moving to lesson 8 in our Story Town books- The Great Ball Game and The Bat. We have started Unit 4 in math. In this unit we will be focusing on adding and subtracting. For Dia de Los Muertos we will not be making sugar skulls, but plaster of Paris skulls after all. I will be sending home all of the science projects next week. Again, all the projects were well organized and very interesting. All the children did such a good job. I hope to do more projects like that in the future. Below are next week’s words. Thank you
