Dr. Deidre “Dea” McAdam

I fell in love with Taos Charter the first day I substitute taught here in 2009.  This is my second year as Director and after 30 years in education I still wake up everyday excited to go to work.

I began my career as a special education teacher at both the elementary and middle school levels. After earning my certification as a school guidance counselor, I  served as a high school guidance counselor for eight years. I become an administrator because I wanted more influence on decisions  regarding what is good for kids;I've been a school administrator since 1995.

I  earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of New York at Stony Brook in 1978 and my guidance counselor certification from the University of Phoenix in 1991. I received my administrative certification from the University of Arizona in 1994 and my doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Arizona in 2002.

For me, Taos Charter School is characterized by "Scholarship, Optimism and Joy."  This community of great students, great parents and great teachers bring these words to life.

"It is in the shelter of each other that the people live."

                                                                                        Irish proverb
