Jeremy Jones
I spent the first ten years of my working life in number of pursuits, including several years as an Emergency Medical Technician, Army Medic, an operating room assistant, a laboratory assistant, and even a truck driver. I always enjoyed helping others but wanted a more creatively fulfilling profession. Looking back to my teen-age years, when I had directed a children’s choir, I remembered how much I enjoyed working with children to produce musical drama and performances. I remembered how great it felt to see the excitement in their faces when they learned something new. I decided to become a teacher and to me it is more than a job, it is my life’s calling.
Now, after ten years, I can say that the over-riding philosophy with which I approach my work has not changed much from the first year. This philosophy holds in highest priority the right (and great responsibility) of each person to develop as an individual and as a member of a global community through personal choices and learning experiences. I want to help children become goal oriented and able to face challenges with confidence and resourcefulness. Successful people learn how to set personal goals and make smart choices over time in order to achieve their dreams.
Our world is becoming increasingly competitive. Education must prepare our children to become leaders in the global community. Our future entrepreneurs, scientists, teachers, engineers, skilled trades-people, etc. will only be able to overcome tomorrow’s challenges if we start preparing them today. This is why this 5th grade class is so important.
Please join me in a partnership to help your child become the very best he or she can be. Research has proven that the best predictor of student achievement is high expectations…our beliefs about the potential of each student matters. Please join me in expecting every child to achieve excellence. This is not only about being a successful student…more importantly it is about being a thriving and self-confident human being.
We serve our children best when we expect their best!
P.S. Achieving excellence is not mystery; it is possible for anyone willing to earn it. The research is conclusive:excellence comes from focused practice over time under the guidance of skilled mentors. Please provide your child with a quiet place each evening to complete assigned practice activities. Encourage them to participate actively in the classroom and not to be afraid to make mistakes when they are learning something new.
Sincerely: Jeremy Jones
